During the bargaining session on April 6, 2021, the Union presented nine proposals, including proposals to: increase wages for each year of the successor Agreement; change detail rates and their calculation; add Juneteenth as a holiday; increase pay for certain holidays; increase hazard pay and longevity pay; institute a wage differential for officers certified by the Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission; extensively revise the economic
This certification differential shall be paid to each bargaining unit officer until if and when any such officer is no longer certified by the Peace Officer Standard and Training (POST). Upon decertification of any officer by the POST Commission, such officer is no longer eligible for employment as a police officer by the Town, subject to whatever reinstatement rights may be available to such officer under the law.
A new 6% annual differential in regular weekly compensation for officers who are or become certified by the Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission. The final three proposals related to Section 11, Grievance Procedure, and Section 12, Education Career Incentive, and Longevity Pay. With respect to the grievance procedure, the Union modified/clarified existing time limits for filing a grievance.
