After attending Westfield State University where he received a bachelors degree in Sports Medicine in 2008, he moved back to Easthampton to live with his (former) girlfriend who was renting a home in Easthampton. He studied for and was certified as an EMT which started him on a career path with a private ambulance company in 2010. In 2014, he became an EMT instructor. He has now reached the level of Paramedic.

He offered the position to the third-ranked candidate, That person, C.S., was then about to graduate from Westfield State University with a bachelors degree in criminal justice. While in college, C.S. worked with the Westfield State EMS, volunteered with the Blandford Fire Department, and completed the Reserve/Intermittent Police Academy. He had never served as a police officer, or served in the military.

He earned an associates degree in biology from Holyoke Community College in 2005 and received a B.S. degree with a dual major in environmental biology and criminal justice from Westfield State University in 2013. After high school, the Appellant attended Westfield State University from 2006 to 2010, obtaining a bachelors degree in political science and a minor in criminal justice.
