The reason for those voting against the cut was that it would further tie the hands of the superintendent to run the schools and would ultimately harm the students of the town of Stoughton. To make cuts based on hypothetical situations which may or may not occur, didnt seem to be a good enough reason to cut a budget that was thoroughly vetted by the Education Subcommittee, and ultimately supported by the Fincomm as a whole.
