The Police Reform Bill calls for a Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) Commission to certify police officers statewide. The legislation requires a number of steps in the event an entity wishes to continue certifying employees as Special State Police Officers (SSPO). As you know, some of the employees who serve as Aviation Officers or Aviation Officer Sergeants entered the position by qualifying under the SSPO path.
The legislation created the Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission (POST Commission) and tasked it with determining how best to hold Special State Police Officers to the same or similar standards as regular law enforcement officers.
