On September 12, 2021, a patient with the initials RG was injured when he was allegedly assaulted by a DSW named Patrick Tracey (Tracey) alone in a room, who was later charged with assault and then with the patients murder.
In addition to general management supervision, DSWs conduct is overseen by the Commonwealths Disabled PersonsProtectionCommission (DPPC), an independent agency. Allegations of abuse involving a DSW are initially investigated by the DPPC, in partnership with the Massachusetts State Police, the Massachusetts Attorney Generals Office, and other law enforcement agencies.
