In Town of Winthrop and International Brotherhood of Police Officers Local 97, 28 MLC 200, (2002) the Town of Winthrop denied knowledge of a practice because they were not aware that bargaining unit members were working details outside the Town. They supported this with testimony from their payroll clerk who stated she could not recall billing outside municipalities for the details.
