Summary
We are intending to file a referral to the state ethics board on thomas mahoney - TODAY.   By the time you tell him about this request - he will have been referred, and the complaint to the state will have been made.  Any means to circumvent this request will add further to our complaint.  We are seeking all emails sent or received by thomas mahoney out of the CPC inbox, or out of his personal email address (tom.cpc21@gmail.com) which mention "patch" or "media inquiry" or "media request"  Dates to search May 11, 2022 - June 8, 2022.   Seeking any emails in the inbox of any of the remaining CPC members on their CPC account if they have one, and their personal accounts which mention "patch" or "media inquiry" or "media request"  Dates to search May 11, 2022 - June 8, 2022.   Seeking any emails in the inbox of Mike Tusino on their city account or his personal gmail account which mention "patch" or "media inquiry" or "media request" WHEN it relates to the CPC.  Dates to search May 11, 2022 - June 8, 2022.   Consider this - had the commission been told that there was a media inquiry, any one of them could have brought it up in any meeting on how they would respond to the inquiry.  We checked with many of the members and none reported that they were told.  The mere idea that the patch was seeking to write an article on misogyny on the CPC - would be a red flag, instill fear in those perpetuating the misogyny, what if one of the victims speaks to the media, what will it do to credibility of Thomas Mahoney.    That said.... Shannon Stevens tendered her resignation when Judy attempted to change leadership, and members who never show up to meetings, remarkibly showed up, to vote to maintain current leadership.   Shannon Stevens left because of the poor treatment of the woman on the CPC. Liz Kaprelian left a few days later citing a hostile work place under Thomas Mahoney.   Had they know about the media request - they could have pressed the issue, they could have reached out to the media themselves and give a statement, it could have been nipped in the bud.   But instead Thom decided that an eamil sent to the CPC email box - which he had set up to have exclusive access to, which in this case worked to his favor.   He didn't tell anyone about the media request, he didn't respond to the media request himself, he made it go away.   What the issue is - is that the intent of the voicemail and email sender was not up to Thomas to decided who the message was for.   On the city website, the description for the CPC email box is "Public feedback can also be submitted to the CPC general email: CPC@framinghamma.gov. " This wording does not indicate that letters submitted go to Thomas Mahoney, chair, it indicates a general mailbox indicating it goes to the CPC members.    In the voicemail from the patch, the voice mail indicated "I want to check in with members of the committee"  - this indicating that the message was for the CPC members and not just Thomas Mahoney.  After mahoney recieved the voicemail, electronically in his email box, he asked SRAO Paul Iverson "let me know if i need to do anything"   Paul explained that because the video was requested, that he, Paul, in his official capacity as a SRAO would need to supply the video,  However that  "In terms of replying substantively regarding the work of the committee or the claims of misogyny, that is up to you and the other members of the committee. As far as I know, you are under no legal obligation to respond in any particular fashion or at all."  It was all in there - what Thomas has to do - it was up to him AND the committee to decide how to respond or not at all.   Both the voiceamail and the email were addressed to the CPC members as they came in to the CPC voicemail or the CPC email - however the end decision was to not respond - made exclusively by Thomas Mahoney. Being that two resignations cited Thomas Mahoney's leadership and an atmosphere of misogyny as the reason for their resignation.  Had thomas done the right thing and shared the media inquiry with his team....    Would the CPC look different today?    We believe so.  We believe the only recourse is a ethics board referral, which will be dropped if Mahoney resigns, effective immediately.  And of course - you know we will be making this matter public - and sure as shit - this won't look good on the administration who didn't work to ensure that the right things were done.   PJ tried - but failed to follow up.  If Thomas Mahoney resigns from the commission, not just as chair - we will walk away from our complaint and he can go about living his private life.  Good afternoon,  The records responsive to your request are attached/linked.
