Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, the news media outlet requests the following records:
A copy of all emails - including metadata, content, & attachments sent and received from/to Hannah Woit between August 1 and September 15, 2020.
Please include all city-related emails on her city computer and her home computer, due to COVID-19.
The state law says "Public records, including emails made or received in an individual’s capacity as a government employee, must be maintained and kept in a manner that allows access by the general public, as they are subject to mandatory disclosure upon request. Whenever original public records are created outside the government offices, they shall be transferred on a regular and frequent basis to secure storage by the entity "
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
As a representative of the news media, I request a waiver of all fees for this request. Disclosure of the requested information to me is in the public interest because it is likely to contribute significantly to public understanding of the operations or activities of the government.
The Public Records Law requires you to provide me with a written response within 10 business days.
If you cannot comply with my request, you are statutorily required to provide an explanation in writing.
The City is withholding certain email communications with
the City Solicitor’s Office which are otherwise responsive to your request
under the common law attorney-client privileged recognized in Suffolk
Construction v. DCAM, 449 Mass. 444 (2007), which were made in confidence between the City and its
counsel for the purposes of seeking/giving legal advice.
