Dear Public Records Officer,
Under the Massachusetts Public Records Act § 66-10 et seq., I am requesting an
opportunity to inspect or obtain copies of any and all written communication
sent and received by city employees regarding the abandoned homes on Leland
Street owned by General Chemical within the past three years.
I expect this request to yield communications between Mr. Mike Tusino and other
building department employees and an attorney affiliated with General Chemical,
as well as communications between Mr. Mike Tusino and other building department
employees with state employees affiliated with the Attorney General’s Abandoned
Housing Initiative. However, I am also interested in other communications by
and with other city employees about these homes, which is why I did not narrow
my request to those communications only.
I prefer this data be sent to me in a searchable, machine-readable format,
rather than as scanned documented.
If there are any fees for searching or copying these records, please inform me.
However, I would also like to request a waiver of all fees in that the
disclosure of the requested information is in the public interest and will
contribute significantly to the public’s understanding of the General Chemical
clean-up. This information is not being sought for commercial purposes and will
be used in a piece I’m writing for the MetroWest Daily News.
The Massachusetts Public Records Act requires a response to this request within
10 days. If access to the records I am requesting will take longer than
this amount of time, please contact me with information about when I might
expect copies or the ability to inspect the requested records. My email address

feel justifies the refusal to release the information and notify me of the
