The state legislature provides an annual appropriation to the Massachusetts CulturalCouncil (MCC), a state agency, which then allocates funds to each community. We are grateful to the Legislature for providing funding for these projects through the Massachusetts Cultural Council. The Framingham Cultural Council also reached out to businesses and corporations in MetroWest to augment the funds we receive from the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

The non-profit applies to the Council for a grant, and the employee participates in rating the applications received for that grant. Example of violation : A state employee promotes his son to a position under his supervision.

In 2013, the Town of Natick applied for, and received, a cultural district designation by the Massachusetts CulturalCouncil. Prior to that, the Town executed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Natick Center Associates, Inc. (NCA) to manage the cultural district.

The Massachusetts CulturalCouncil, a state institution that promotes the arts, education, and diversity at the community level, was also involved. Overall the cost was modest; honoring Crispus Attucks with a plaque and a ceremony was not an expensive enterprise.
Acts as the liaison to cultural districts with the goal of supporting their work and crafting programs that do so as well as coordinating Massachusetts CulturalCouncil requirements and activities. Acts as a resource to neighborhood Main Street organizations and community development agencies engaging the arts, in coordination with other City departments.
