ARTICLE 19: GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE Any employee may request the settlement of a grievance or dispute by observing the following procedure within a thirty (30) day perio d after knowledge of the grievance and/o r dispute. The employee with or without a shop steward shall present the griev ance to his or her immediate supervisor, who will give an answer in writing within three (3) days after prese ntation of the grievance Step 2.

A) It is the intent of these procedures to provide for the orderly settlement of differences in a fair and equitable manner. No settlement is binding on the Town unless approved by the Town Administrator or the Board of Selectmen. A grievance shall be defined as a dispute concerning the interpretation or application of any provision of this Agreement. If the grievance involves a municipal board other than the Board of Selectmen, the Town Administrator will insure that the Board is consulted in the grievance process.
Notwithstanding the settlement of this agreement, the Town reserves all of its rights to make future changes to the health insurance plans offered to bargaining unit employees, in accordance with and to the extent authorized by M.G.L. c. 32B, Sections 21-23, and regulations promulgated thereunder. Step 4: Ifthe grievance or dispute is still unresolved, either party may, within thirty (30) days after the reply of the Board of Selectmen is due, submit the grievance or dispute to the Massachusetts Board of Conciliation and Arbitration for settlement according to their procedures. 8.20 The decision of the Arbitrator shall be final and binding on the parties and the Arbitrator shall be requested to issue his/her decision within thirty (30) days
