Just over half of the Citys open space is owned by the state, under the jurisdiction of the Department of Conservation & Recreation (DCR) and the MBTA. Privately owned open space primarily includes Tufts University Fields, Matignon High School, and a small amount of Privately Owned Public Space (POPS). The majority of this land (69 percent) is permanently protected, while about 47 acres lack permanent protection.
