The Attorney GeneralsOffice discourages public bodies from using abbreviations or acronyms in meeting notices if they are not commonly understood. See OML 2016-5 (finding that the acronym PILOT is not one that members of the public are likely to understand); Cf. OML 2015-172 (concluding that FAA is a widely understood acronym).
In my November 8th determination, I directed the parties to contact the Attorney GeneralsOffice, where the Towns response raised issues related to the Open Meeting Law. In an email received on November 29, 2023, Mr. Williston requested that I reconsider my previous determination. While we acknowledge that the notice did not specifically indicate that the Board would discuss the beaver dams on Horrigan Road, the Open Meeting Law does not Although the complaint did not take issue with the Boards use of the acronyms HMP and MVP on the meeting notice, we note that the Attorney GeneralsOffice discourages public bodies from using abbreviations or acronyms in meeting notices if they are not commonly understood.

In the Open Meeting Law determination, the Attorney GeneralsOffice stated: We therefore find that the original purpose for the executive sessions that took place on January 4 and January 14 have concluded and the minutes of both executive sessions can no longer be withheld from the public under the Open Meeting Law.
Please be advised that in a recent decision from the Attorney GeneralsOffice (AGO), the AGO found that . . . a resume submitted as part of an employment application falls within a core category of personnel information useful in making employment decisions, and is therefore absolutely exempt from disclosure under the first clause of Exemption (c).
