(Medical and Life Insurance) The Authority agrees to provide medical and life insurance programs, as offered under the terms and conditions of and through the Massachusetts Group InsuranceCommission and as may, from time to time, be amended. Section B.
ARTICLE XIII HEALTH INSURANCE The Authority provides health insurance plans for eligible employees and their dependents through the Group InsuranceCommission (GIC), The Authority shall pay 75% of the monthly premium rate for eligible employees in the health insurance plan and each employee covered shall pay 25% of this premium rate for the type of coverage that 1s provided for him/her and his/her dependents.
In the event that the Town enters the Group InsuranceCommission (GIC), the amount that employees will be required to contribute towards the GIC plans shall be as follows: HMO PPO Indemnity 15% 15% 50% SECTION 2 In accordance with the provisions of Chapter 32B of the General Laws with no premium cost by the Town, the Town will purchase additional group life and group accidental death and dismemberment insurance for employees.

Insurance The Stoneham School Custodians have ratified their health insurance agreement through the Public Employee Committee with the Town of Stoneham to enroll in health insurance through the Massachusetts Group InsuranceCommission from July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2015. ARTICLE XIV LAYOFF AND RECALL Bargaining unit employees will be laid off in accordance with M.G.L., Chapter 31.
The health insurance changes were reduced by the Group InsuranceCommission (GIC). Although the Commonwealth declined to bargain with the union over the GICs decision, it agreed to bargain over the impact of the change. The SJC affirmed the Commissions decision. The Commonwealth had no authority to control the decision made by the GIC.
In MCOFU, under G.L. c. 32B; and, therefore was beyond the Commissions the Court held that the employer had no control over the Group InsuranceCommissions (GIC) decision to reduce health insurance benefits because the GIC is an independent third party agency; thereby relieving the employer of its duty to bargain over the health insurance changes that were mandated by the GIC. 14 Contrary to the Commissions reliance on MCOFU, the PEC is not an independent
The Committee and the Union are parties to a Memorandum of Agreement which provides for health insurance benefits to 13 be provided through the Group InsuranceCommission (G.I.C.). Said Agreement is attached to this contract. Employees shall receive health insurance benefits in accordance with said Agreement so long as said Agreement is in effect.
