March 19, 2022Dear City of Newton:Under the Massachusetts Public Records Act § 66-10 et seq., I am requesting an emailed copy of public records related to any current contract for services from any active vendor providing goose and/or Canadian Geese control. This shall include but not be limited any active contract for the purpose between the city and vendor, and include the cost for such service. If there are any fees for searching or copying these records, please inform me if the cost will exceed $0.00 as the contract should be readily available and emailed to avoid unnecessary time, travel, and fees. However, should there be any such fees, I would also like to request a waiver of all fees in that the disclosure of the requested information is in the public interest, and shall contribute significantly to the public’s understanding of the health and safety measures taken by our government in addressing the issues stemming from geese. Please note: I am an independent journalist gathering this information for news and educational purposes a matter of public interest. I am not actively requesting this information for commercial purposes. The Massachusetts Public Records Act requires a response to this request within 10 days. If access to the records I am requesting will take longer than this amount of time, please contact me with information about when I might expect an emailed copy of the requested records.
