Summary

Under the Massachusetts Public Records law, SOURCE media is requesting a list of top 12 locations in Framingham for "accidents."   Source is seeking a list of the 12 intersections with the most crashes in 2021. By crashes, the news media outlet is seeking information involving vehicles crashes and not pedestrians struck.   Source would like to know which intersection is #1 (through 12) and how many crashes, and if any fatalities. For example  Route 9 and Temple Street -12 crashes, 1 fatal. Route 9 and Prospect street - 10 crashes - 0 fatal     I believe this should be capable with a search of the police department's database of its log entries. The work should take less than the two hours. State does allow for a charge beyond two hours worth of work. It is not possible for the public, or the media, to conduct a search with the public log posted online, for the same information.   Source is requesting all the data electronically, via email.   As a representative of the news media,  SOURCE is requesting a waiver of all fees for this request.  Disclosure of the requested information to SOURCE is in the public interest because it is likely to contribute significantly to public understanding of the activities of the city.   The Public Records Law requires the City to provide SOURCE with a written response within 10 business days - be it either the electronic files or a reason why they can not be given to the media outlet.   If the City cannot comply with SOURCE's request, you are statutorily required to provide an explanation in writing, state which exemption under state law. See attached document.
