Under the Massachusetts Public Records Law, SOURCE media is requesting the following:
1) Text messages by COO Thatcher Kezer III on August 14 between 11 a.m. through Monday, August 16.
2) Text messages by Alex DePalo on August 14, August 15, and August 16
3) Phone log by Alex DePalo on August 14 (take screen shots of her cell phone call log).
4) Emails between Kezer and DePalo on August 14-15-16.
As the city is still under COVID protocols, text messages and emails can be from the city issued devices or personal devices. Note the law states that if official city business is done on a personal device it must be provided.
SOURCE media is requesting a waiver of all fees for these documents, as a digital news media outlet.
Disclosure of the requested information to the news outlet is in the public interest because it is likely to contribute significantly to public understanding of the operations or activities of the government.
The Public Records Law requires you to provide me with a written response within 10 business days.
If you cannot comply with my request, you are statutorily required to provide an explanation in writing on why a time extension is being request is needed.
If anything is withheld, be state specifically under the law why it is being held. Documents should only be withheld as a last resort, and should instead be redacted and for reason under the law.
