Dear Mr. Palmer,
Under the Massachusetts Public Records Act § 66-10 et seq., I am requesting:
- A copy of the municipality’s contracts with any and all firewall providers
- The name, salary and resume of each employee working in IT for the
municipality in 2019
- A copy of any cybersecurity audits of the municipality within the past 5
years
- Copies of reimbursement forms for conferences/workshops about cybersecurity
attended by municipal IT professionals in the last 5 years
I prefer this data be sent to me in a machine-readable format.
If there are any fees for searching or copying these records, please inform me.
However, I would also like to request a waiver of all fees in that the
disclosure of the requested information is in the public interest and will
contribute significantly to the public’s understanding of cybersecurity efforts
in this community. This information is not being sought for commercial purposes
and will be used in a piece I’m writing for the MetroWest Daily News.
The Massachusetts Public Records Act requires a response to this request within
10 days. If access to the records I am requesting will take longer than
this amount of time, please contact me with information about when I might
expect copies or the ability to inspect the requested records. My email address
is jhinkle@wickedlocal.com and my
phone number is 774-405-2896.
If you deny any or all of this request, please cite each specific exemption you
feel justifies the refusal to release the information and notify me of the
appeal procedures available to me under the law.
Thank you for considering my request.
Sincerely,
Jeannette Hinkle

Hi Ms. Hinkle,
I’m sorry we couldn’t get together for an interview. Hopefully once things get back to normal we can meet if you’re still interested.
I’m attaching 3 responsive documents to the request –
The one reimbursement for cybersecurity training; personal information has been redacted per exemption (o)
A PDF file of all resumes for IT staff working for the City in 2019; personal information has been redacted per exemption (o)
A payroll report showing salaries for IT staff working for the City in 2019
The City underwent a risk assessment in May-June 2015. We are withholding the results of this assessment per exemption (n)
Please let me know if you’d like to discuss further. I'm available for a call if you'd like or we can set up a meeting when things get back to normal.
